In recent years, Comoros has been pleasantly surprising with their gameplay. Recall the penultimate African Nations Cup held in 2022: then, the "Coelacanthus" advanced from a very challenging group to the playoffs, finishing third in their group table, and in the round of 16, they were very close to beating Cameroon with a field player in goal (1-2). As for their latest matches, Comoros has won 5 out of 7, with the only loss coming in an away game against Madagascar (1-2).

Zimbabwe, on the other hand, is not in the best shape, and the quality of play leaves much to be desired. Thus, the team has not won a single game since the beginning of 2023, and in their last three matches, they have lost without exception. The encounter with Lesotho on June 7 also raised many questions: Zimbabwe, initially considered the clear favorite, not only suffered a home defeat but also failed to find a way to their opponent's goal (0-2).
