Cristiano Ronaldo Reflects on UEFA Nations League Victory
On June 9, Portugal's national team captain Cristiano Ronaldo spoke to several media outlets following their victory over Spain in the UEFA Nations League final.

On His Injury:
"I felt something during the warm-up, and it persisted for a while. But for the national team, I would be willing to break a leg if I had to. This is a championship, and I needed to be on the field. I gave everything and did my utmost. I scored and contributed to my country."

On Winning the Championship:
"I am very happy. First and foremost, this generation deserves a championship. For my family, winning this title here is special... It’s very special to win for Portugal. I have many titles, but nothing is better than winning for Portugal. The tears and the feeling of fighting for my country... it’s beautiful.
This is our nation. We may be a small population, but we have great ambitions. I have lived in many countries and played for many clubs, but the feeling when they talk about Portugal is special. As the captain of this generation of the Portuguese team, I feel incredibly proud. Winning a championship is always the highlight for the national team. For the future, we can only focus on the short term.
Although I was injured during the match, it was tough... I gave my all because when it comes to the national team, you must go all out."

On Roberto Martínez:
"I am happy for him, pleased for him as a Spaniard, because he has given everything for the country. We have won this championship, but that’s just our motivation and our desire."
