AS Roma Submit €30m Bid for Palmeiras Midfielder Richard Ríos

AS Roma have officially lodged a €30m package bid, comprising €27m upfront and €3m in add-ons, for Palmeiras’ standout midfielder Richard Ríos, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano. The 25-year-old Colombian has emerged as a prime target for the Serie A club, with manager Gian Piero Gasperini keen to bolster his midfield ahead of the 2025-26 season, set to kick off on August 23.

Ríos, who joined Palmeiras in 2023, played a pivotal role in their 2023 Brasileirão triumph and has since showcased his technical prowess and relentless pressing style. His 2024 season statistics, including an 87.3% pass completion rate and 6.2 ball recoveries per game (Wyscout data), align perfectly with Gasperini’s high-intensity system. The move comes as Roma aim to strengthen their squad for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

Palmeiras, who had demanded a €30m fixed fee, are evaluating the offer, while Benfica’s interest has not yet materialized into a formal bid. Ríos, with 12 caps for Colombia, is eager to take the next step in his career in Europe. A decision is expected soon as the transfer window progresses.
