'Would be a very smart appointment': Some Man United advocate Thomas Frank as Ten Hag's possible successor

Erik ten Hag remains under heavy pressure at Man United after the bitter start to the 2024/25 season, where his side has only picked up eight points from seven Premier League games.

The Red Devils’ board are yet to make a final decision on Ten Hag’s future, but some fans are already discussing potential replacements.

A certain section of Man United supporters seem to believe that Brentford boss Thomas Frank might be an ideal replacement for the Dutch.

Frank helped Brentford get promoted to the Premier League and has had them punching above their weights since the 2021-22 season. They only finished in 16th place last season, but Frank’s ability to get his side to pull off surprises against top teams and stay alive in the competition has won over many.

Liam Canning: “There's something unique about Thomas Frank that I think suits Manchester United. Might not be the 'flashiest' of names, but has that authority and personality you'd expect of a United manager. Think it would be a very smart appointment if it ever happened.”

Howellsey: “He's always got under my skin, which is a good thing. Seems bit of an arsehole who takes no shit, but he'd be our arsehole.”

Goalgurus: “Been saying this for years, one of the most underrated managers in football. His philosophy is versatile and you’re right he oozes authority. Would be very excited if this did happen.”

Jonni: “I think he would get the best out of the players too. He shown that he likes to score goals and he would set up in a way that would entertain the crowd. He would have to learn quickly about managing the occasion or bigger games but he is an intelligent guy it seem.”
